Fiumaretta è posta di fronte a Bocca di Magra, sulla riva sinistra del fiume Magra. Nell'antichità la sua area costituiva il tratto antistante il porto della città di Luni, ma nel corso dei secoli progressivamente s'insabbiò. Il borgo attuale sorge nel 1855 in seguito alle bonifiche della zona paludosa, che si era creata nel tempo, compresa fra Marinella e il fiume. La struttura urbanistica razionalmente concepita è ancora leggibile nella parte più antica del piccolo centro. Questa graziosa località balneare è un ridente luogo di villeggiatura dove il mare e il fiume si fondono e le famiglie possono godere delle lunghe spiagge che da diversi anni ottengono il riconoscimento internazionale della Bandiera Blu, assegnato alle località turistiche balneari che rispettano criteri relativi alla gestione sostenibile del territorio.
Fiumaretta è sicuramente il luogo dove gli sport d'acqua sono i veri padroni. La particolare esposizione ai venti ne fanno il luogo privilegiato per gli amanti della vela, del windsurf e del kitesurf. Gli appassionati della canoa possono invece attraversare la foce del fiume per andare alla scoperta delle spiaggette nascoste tra Punta Bianca e Punta Corvo così come gli amanti della subacquea possono partire per entusiasmanti escursioni.

Fiumaretta is the village just in front of Bocca di Magra, on the left bank of the river Magra. In ancient times this area lay in front of the port of Luni, adjacent to the docks that throughout the centuries silted up. The present village was born in 1855 after the drainage of the marshes between Marinella and the river. Its planning rationally conceived, is today clear in its old-est part.
